Essays
- 300 words or fewer, not counting the address and salutation. Cover letter: Please submit a cover letter seeking a place in the MIT Sloan MBA program. Your letter should conform to a standard business correspondence, include one or more professional examples that illustrate why you meet the desired criteria above, and be addressed to the Admissions Committee.
- 90 seconds, one take, no editing, no music or subtitles. Video Question 1: Every applicant has a story that can't be captured in a resume. Take up to 90 seconds to share yours: who you are, where you come from, and what's shaped the person you are today.
- No time limit is published for this question. Video Question 2: A randomly generated, open-ended question. Past examples include: What achievement are you most proud of and why? Tell us about a time a classmate or colleague wasn't contributing to a group project. What did you do?
- Not published on the school's site. Short-answer response, required only after an interview invitation. The page says submission instructions come with the invitation.
Recommendations
One letter of recommendation, ideally from a manager or supervisor. The recommender answers questions about how long they have known you, how you stand out, an example of your impact, how you work with others, and anything else they think the school should know. You must also list two more professional references who are not your recommender.
Interview
Required, and offered only by invitation. An invitation does not guarantee admission. Round 1 interviews take place from late October to early December. Round 2 interviews usually take place in February and March.
Other parts of the application
A one-page resume, a list of up to three jobs, a short cover letter, an organizational chart with your role circled in red, a record of relevant college courses (calculus, communications, microeconomics, organizational behavior, probability, statistics), and transcripts from every school you attended. Transcripts are uploaded as scans.
