Essays
- 2,000 characters. Your professional goals are described elsewhere in your application. What led you to those goals and to your understanding of where you need to grow? Why is Tuck the right environment to support that growth and help you achieve your ambitions?
- 2,000 characters. People are often shaped by experiences that are not fully reflected in their resume. Tell us about an important aspect of who you are that has shaped you as a person. How will your perspective enrich the Tuck community?
- 2,000 characters. Describe a time when supporting another person was not easy or straightforward. What made it difficult, how did you respond, and what did you learn?
- Optional, 2,000 characters. Optional: Please provide any additional insight or information that you have not addressed elsewhere (for example, atypical choice of references, factors affecting academic performance, unexplained job gaps or changes). Complete this only if you feel your candidacy is not fully represented by this application.
- 300 characters. Short-term and long-term goals, entered in the application form.
Recommendations
Two Letters of Reference, one from your current direct supervisor if possible. Tuck uses GMAC's Common Letter of Recommendation questions. The recommender answers a 50-word description of your interaction, a 500-word comparison with other well-qualified people in similar roles, and a 500-word account of the most important constructive feedback they gave you. Friends, family and professors who did not supervise your work are discouraged. A reapplicant who applied last cycle needs one new letter.
Interview
By invitation. Applicants who finish their application (with test scores and letters) by September 1, 2026 for Round 1 or December 1, 2026 for Round 2 are guaranteed an interview. Interviews last 30 to 45 minutes, usually with a second-year student, and ask behavioral questions based on your resume. Virtual and a few on-campus interviews are offered.
Other parts of the application
A one-page resume, transcripts for every undergraduate and graduate school (every page, including the grading scale page), an employment history covering your last four employers, and an application form that asks for your education and test scores.
